Students Padlock Campus Chief's Office in Dharan
Dharan, December 26
The Dharan Engineering Campus unit of the Nepal Students' Union padlocked the campus chief's office on Sunday claiming that the campus administration ignored their demands forwarded on August 25.
Earlier, the Dean's office and the student union had agreed that the latter's demand would be fulfilled. But the student union said the authorities concerned did not paid any attention in this regard and therefore the lock out was held.
Their demands include distribution of the scholarships in time, the campus chief should stay in his own quarters and addition to the book list in the library, proper supply of water, provision of staff quarters and proper management of the girls' hostel and appointment of more teachers for the diploma level in computer electronics.
The campus is not paying any attention to our demands, said NSU's vice chairman, Shiv Adhikari. There is only one teacher for the class with 96 students, he added.
We had reminded the campus administration for five times regarding our demands, said Adhikari.
