DHARAN, Sunsari, Feb 7 - Despite being a cataleptic patient, 28-year-old Ram Prasad Limbu is actively involved in working in a library here in Dharan.
Limbu can be found busy arranging and keeping records of books - issued and returned - at Sunaulo Library in Dharan Municipality-17, Saptarangi Marg.

"Even with my physical disability, I feel in very good mental condition. That is why I have chosen to do something," he said.

He has been suffering from catalepsy from the age of four. "Since then, my body muscles have stiffened due to nerve disorder in my neck," he said.

His job at the library begins at 6:45 every morning when he unlocks its door. He first performs some sanitation works, and stays at the library till ten o’clock. "After having my brunch, I return to the library at 1:00 pm," says he.The library has appointed Limbu as its librarian considering his willingness to do social work despite his physical state. "When I was bedridden before and was offered a job here, everyone used to make fun of me, telling me that I was dumb," he said. "It was also very hard to kill time then."

"I have been enjoying my job here, and my self confidence is growing," he said in an elated mood.

His parents are also happy, as he is able to do something on his own despite being physically challenged.

"He possesses exemplary qualities of diligence and perseverance towards the job," said Laxman Adhikari, chairman of the library.
