When he sings, every soul wants to stop whatever he/she is doing and just listen to him. The hit number Timro Naam took him to such great heights of Nepali music which himself had never imagined of. But looking back at the past he came from, it is difficult to say that he is the same person.

Sabin Rai has come a long way in his musical career to the recognition and fame that he has today. Residing in Dharan with his wife Nisha and two daughters Tiamo and Dayleemo, he neither had a formal education in music nor a family background in the field.

Nobody knew or had heard of him when he'd released his debut album in 2001 entitled Nine. In fact, he began his musical career in 1992 and the first song he ever recorded went as Mero Yo Maya. However, this didn't work out for him back then. Despite that, Sabin saw no reason to back out from music.

Then Sataha was released in 2003 and life would never be same for him gain. He had become an overnight celebrity not only in his hometown but in every city of the nation. Marketed by Taal Music, the album instantly hit charts and climbed straight up or in simple words, ruled them for several weeks at stretch.

The major reason why people took a liking to his songs the moment they heard it was because he sounded very much like Bryan Adams, a heart throb of several music lovers all around the globe. Nevertheless, despite being juxtaposed with the Canadian star, Sabin remains modest by saying that it is just a mere coincidence. Whatever he considers it as, he cannot deny that it is after all one of the sole reasons of his success.

Adding to that, Sataha brought a fresh new sound in the Nepali music industry, when it was in a desperate need of one. Containing eight songs that range from pop to slow rock, Sataha naturally appealed to all. Apart from Timro Naam, the other numbers that made Sabin famous include Maya Jalaima, Namuna and Gurasako Phed. Beautifully written and composed, Namuna is a song dedicated to his daughters and it has sure won the hearts of many listeners as well.

Concert offers then poured in. Till this date, he has performed countless times within the country and has also been to different places of Australia and Hong Kong to do his shows. His performance at the Mega Live concert held collectively with Deepesh Kishore Bhattarai and Jems Pradhan in the capital and other places, is especially remembered by all. And to make it even more memorable he has recently brought out a collection of eight music videos of his songs from Sataha. Sabin also promises to come out with his third album in the very near future.
